This is a very rare jar made as a test run jar. 30 of these were made as sample jars for the Bicentennial year and 25 were later broken in shipment. With only 5 in existance an almost impossible jar to obtain. No lids were made for these as most painted their's as in this example. It has worn off in spots from taking the lid on and off as you can tell in the picture. The ones available to the public were the Ball blue jars which were made in the million's. 50 were run in clear as samples, 25 clear with the Edmund Ball signature across the back, 5000 in Ball blue with the Edmund Ball signature made as a presentation item not available to the public in a nice presentation box.
