Welcome to my fruit jar page. I collect early
and colored Ball fruit jars.
I am an advanced collector and have been collecting Ball jars for 25+ years.
Click
the Ball box end below to read an interesting story on how the Ball
Brother's got started back in the 1800's...
Click the Ball icon below to learn some important facts about Ball jars This is an early Buffalo midget fruit jar made by Ball circa:1885 and is one of the earliest of Ball fruit jars made. Midget jars of this type are not real easy to come by and this example also has a milk glass lid which makes it even nicer. Note the band is flat on top and also serrated around the top edge. This is the correct band for these jars. The BBGMCo monogram stands for Ball brothers glass manufacturing company and was their first design for fruit jar making. Beside it is a scan of an early Bluebook edition L circa:1919 with great artwork. Click the photo and it will take you to my book section. Blue books and other books written about Ball will be here to look at. I'll add more when I get time...
Below is an old box that Ball used to pack a dozen jars in from around 1895 or so. These boxes are not real common and are found sometimes when I go jar hunting. A lot of the time they are weak and the graphics are faded or washed out. This example has real good color and the box is clean. I am always on the lookout for these so if you have any please contact me by clicking the e-mail link above if you want to sell me one.
